My studio is not fancy and I do not have the freedom to rip
up carpet and go crazy with the design like I'd enjoy doing. But it is the first time I've had a whole room just for my studio. And I think the 2 full walls of second story windows makes up for any crazy decor plans I could come up with.
Some of these photos were taken a while back. So you may notice a difference in a few of them like the blue cat pillow and then a pink cat pillow. I recently created a video showing some of my studio for the Artful Gathering class that I have produced. It is quite recent and I thought fit in here quite well. So, I've included it too.
Our house was built in 1919. This is an odd little room off of the larger room. It is larger than a closet but still only about 6' x 5'. And yet, it has a window and an old air conditioning vent. hmmmmm..... The only idea I have is that it was meant to be a nursery just off the master bedroom. Any ideas? Anyone know?
I am currently in Missouri on a trip. I found an old wooden file cabinet at a thrift store that will replace these plastic drawers when I get home. I am in need of these plastic drawers in the room where I teach kid's art classes. So it works out well this way. This window blind is usually up and the cats enjoy watching the squirrels run by on the window ledges. But I had to close it in order to take the picture.
Again, had to close the blinds to get a photo. This table belonged to my big brother. When he left us to go fly fishing in Heaven, I took this table to create on. As I use it I am reminded of how supportive he always was of my art.
I keep things that I love here....my favorite dolls as a child, children's books, a doll my daughter made by hand for me when she was only 9, and a stuffed skunk given to me by my father.
And here is the video. I won't even have to tell you that I am an amateur at filming. It will be evident! : )
And now that you've been in my studio, I will enjoy visiting yours. What kind of tea will you be serving? Got any cinnamon scones?
Have you ever wished you could learn to draw? I teach drawing online through video lessons. We are having so much fun and my students are amazed at how well they are drawing and how quickly they are progressing. Come by and take a look at Wind and Honey Classes. You can do it too!

It's lovely to see where so many different types of artists work! Thank you for sharing yours. Those lovely windows must let in a lot of light.
I don't have any scones, but if you're quick you might get some chocolate brownies before my boy eats them!
I think you space is lovely, I to would love a fancy studio...but for now in this house I am happy with what I have. My desk is my favorite place in my house, above it art from my friends and people I admire...very inspirational.
I love that you are creating on your brothers table, what a very special place for you. xo
I love that vintage suitcase filled with a stash of goodies on the desk. And that wood drawing table. I adore your stacked pull out drawers (organization galore!)! *smiles* Norma
Thank you Jo. Brownies will be just fine!
I think you have the perfect little space to create~~ I love that you have that great table right in front of your window - I would LOVE to have the opportunity to create and look outside at the same time. You have the best of both worlds!
Vicki
Cool studio, love the cat beds in all the windows. It's fun going to everyones sites and seeing what they do and where they do it. :):) sandie
Your Creative World is just lovely! The light coming in those big windows must be amazing. I also love the idea of using your brother's desk. Great space!
Thanks for sharing.
Susan
I love the use of the little suitcases and did you put just a basic ruler there to keep it up?
A great space with lots of storage. The suitcase is a great idea!
I am so happy for you that you have your brothers table and I love your space - well done.
Hello!!
What a great place to create in! I don't know about you but I am just thankful for a space of my own finally!!
I love that you have room for all of those drawer units!!
Thanks for sharing. Someday we will be able to rip up those rugs of ours!!
LOL!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Your creativity is evident in what you have done with your small space - it is lovely! I am guessing you are correct that it was probably a nursery or "birthing" room at one time. And now a space for doing the same with your artwork. How perfect!
No, Kathy. That is an optical illusion. The ruler is just tucked in the side but is not actually against the back. The lid stays up by itself.
Great space to create to your hearts desire. If your drawers house what my draws house...we can be creating for years to come...TFS!
I want to thank you for visiting my space today, it is funny you should mention cinnamon scones, I had tea and cinnamon scones with homemade blueberry jam while visiting studios today. I love your art it is so fanciful. I also really like your space. As for the little room my grandparents had one in their farmhouse and it was the nannys quarters for the nursery. Some of the older homes had a large bedroom that was actually the nursery because all of the children slept in one room. Hope this helps, at least is is an interesting idea. I will visit often, I hope you stop by too, I really like your work.
Tea and scones next time,
Sue
What a great room to create in and with lots of wonderful space. Thank you so much for sharing and thank you for visiting over at my place too.
Have a wonderful sunday
Tina
I am so happy you got in. The size doesn't matter, the fact you have made it your own in such a personal way does. Interesting about your rooms origins. I would hazard a guess, it could have been the.....wait for it....chamber pot room? Nursurey is a nicer thought though LOL
Keep smiling and creating, thanks for sharing
Your space is wonderful! I especially love the area for your cat. My cat sits on my counter and looks out the window. Nice company. Kit

I'll trade windows for space any day. And about the use of the room...I wonder if it could have been a dressing room, since clothing in that time would have been much bigger to get into? Just a thought. Thanks for showing us your space!
Thanks for sharing your space. I love your studio.
I have a feeling that room was indeed a nursery at one time - and now it's your space! I love that you have your late brother's table in your space. I have some remembrances of my late brother in my space, as well. Thanks so much for sharing your space with us.
What a fun and pretty place to create your art! Your cat looks very happy there too! Critters in the workplace make for most excellent muses!
Thanks so much for the tour.

Great workspace and I love that you are using your brother's desk. Lots of positive energy stored up in that piece. I have the same oak chair by the way. Can't wait to see that wood file cabinet next year. Seems like never enough storage space. Thanks for visiting my studio and will stop in to see you again.
Love your space ! My house had a room like that off the main bedroom..we couldn't figure out why it was there. Huge window. But the room was only 8x6 with no signs of it being a former bathroom or laundry room....no clue... So after years of frustration I just knocked a wall down and made my master bedroom a bit larger.
I love that you turned yours into a creative space. So glad you made it to Where Bloggers Create. I am always happy to meet creative bloggers.
It is so special that you create surrounded by things you love and that have meaning. Love how you incorporate animals into your mixed media!
Cheers, Devon

A workspace in front of the window, perfect. It is also a special table to work on as it reminds you of your brother. It was fun to meet you on your video.
